Decking is the part of the roof nobody sees and everybody pays for. Soft, delaminated, or rotten sheathing has to come out before new roofing goes down, because fasteners will not hold in it and the new roof will fail early over a bad deck.

How will I know if I need decking replaced?
We find it at tear-off and show you with photographs before it gets covered. It is priced per sheet so you are not guessing at the exposure up front.
Why can you not tell before tear-off?
Because it is under the roof. Soft spots underfoot and staining in the attic are hints, but the real extent only shows once the shingles are off.
What causes decking to rot?
A leak that ran for a while, or an under-ventilated attic putting moisture into the sheathing from below.
Can you replace just part of the deck?
Yes, and that is normal. Only what is actually bad comes out.
What if my house has plank decking rather than plywood?
Common in older Oklahoma homes. Wide gaps between planks sometimes need overlaying so fasteners hold properly, and we will flag that before we start.
